Found a good article on explaining a little bit about rabbit hunting. I hope it helps if you are interested. Rabbits are a really good animal to get into, if you are new to hunting, or want to ease back into it..

Remember this though only hunt rabbits with a r in the month. So if the month has a r, that means it is time to hunt Rabbits....

But if Small Game season doesn't begin until November in my Region.
And without private wooded land, I can't hunt rabbits in September & October. :-[

In all actuality I kinda don't hunt them those months either. Sept and Oct can still be warm months. Or you can just get a pellet gun. ;)

Always check the liver of a wild rabbit before you eat it. If it has white spots, it's not safe to eat and the whole thing should be burned.

Never heard that before, explain please. I have always just waited until the first good frost.

Spotted liver indicates the presence of Tularemia. According to the CDC it is one of the most infectious bacterium known. I've been in Florida now since 2005, and I finally saw A rabbit, as in one, a few days ago. Is there a huntable population of rabbits in North central Florida? Best regards,JA

I have eaten more Fl rabbits than I could count. As for spotty livers, never even checked em. 20 years ago who knew? As for where are the rabbits, I have hunted them all over the state. One of the best places, when I was younger and you could get away with this sort of thing, was Downtown Orlando. My Dad and Uncle would ride around in a truck with a flashlight. The passenger would hit em with a Benjamin .22 air rifle. My job was to jump out of the back and get em. I was a good rabbit dog.
We also hunted them in old orange groves. That was one of the best places for them. Of course we hunted at night with lights, but hey this wasnt sport hunting. It was get a rabbit or three or it was just pinto beans and corn bread for dinner.
Late evening is the best time, right up to and just after dark are the best times.
