Changes at the Kodiak House..
« on: August 30, 2016, 05:15:02 PM »
The better half and I have been discussing our lives and how we live.
We are seriously considering selling the house and living in the RV fulltime.
Already talked to a Real Estate agent. Numbers are workable.
Not enough room for all my preps.

May be downsizing my gear and food preps.
More to follow as decisions are made.
Could be a great time or the worst decision of my life.

Not a bad plan Kodiak.
We downsized from the big house to a smaller mfg. home in a 55 and older community this year.
With me still working as much as I can and mama about 4 years from retiring, it was the only option for us to stay in this area...for now.
We are considering the RV route ourselves, even if its only for part of the year, and use this as our "home base".
Our thoughts were this will require us to downsize considerably for now and prepare us should we decide to go full time RV living.
Good luck with the transition and keep us posted.

Do you already have the RV? If not, just be dang sure it is what you can live in full time. I know some who quickly realized their RV wasn't the right choice or large enough and had to upgrade. Another example is a relative of mine bought a good travel trailer for using about 3-4 months in a year but quickly found out it wasn't designed well enough for constant use like that, the floor started to go soft from constant traffic, they upgraded too.

We have had a Class A for about 9 years. Spent a month as workcampers last May, to try a longer time.
We had a Travel trailer before that.
You never know what will work till you try.
It won't be many years before I will not be able to keep up the maintenance on the house. We have both worked hard our whole lives. Raised our kids, even helped with the grandkids.
A few years back we had to clear out my parents home after they passed. It's a real pain in the rear and the heart. I do not want to leave a lot of "stuff" for my kids to have to deal with.
We are going to have some fun, if we can.
Life is too short. If we wait much longer, we will not be able to go on this adventure. Even if we stay around here, it will still be an adventure.
Sorry for rambling, You ALL should check your life choices, You get no do over's......

It ain't the age, it's the mileage!

At 57 I've also been reevaluating my life. I want to make a change before 60. Would love to find a good woman to share it all and enjoy it with. Time will tell.

UPDATE.
Been cleaning out the house, painting, fixin' stuff. Have to be out Wednesday morning. Real estate agent is coming at 10am for pictures and sign contracts.
Got VERY lucky. Got a volunteer job for three months just 12 miles from the house. Alafia State Park.
Wife and I each put in 16 hrs per week.
Will try to keep up on the process. So far exciting. The wife is having last minute issues. Did we make the right decision or not. Time will tell.

Congratulations. I'm not far from that park, I will have to come by and say hey.
