I've been going around to different pawn shops looking for deals on tools. Picked up some really nice top end tools for a fraction of their msrp.

Working on taxes and medical re-imbursements = more $$$

In other news, I'm all set for cold weather gear.  ;)

ME too Siege!!!!  I am ready if it gets ALL the way down to the 60's!!!  :P

Was going on a Wild Edibles hike today, but the weather is yuck, so I am staying in and holding my puppy.

Starting a small garden to see how well I can do. I typically have a black thumb, so we'll see how it goes :D

I know it can get COLD there in Florida. You had better buy more puppies. That sounds infinitely more fun than what i was messing with today--taxes and building codes/zoning issues. Blech.

I've been doing some more research on what kind of place i want to build. Still leaning toward the earthbag/earthship thing. Being able to grow stuff during the winter sounds pretty awesome to me. I found a one day class in cob building on the west coast in Port Townsend that will happen in April, so I'll try to get to that. For my first project i want to make a pizza oven like the one i uploaded (I think it's from Aprovecho which is not too far away)...

Most important thing I did today was join this site.  Also started work on a base camp in the woods behind my house to teach kids wilderness survival skills.  While I am far from an expert I love to teach and have several friends who have shown an interest.  Started debris shelter and fire pit today.

You should come to eastern WA--we're having a heatwave. It's going to be in the low 40s all week! Yesterday was gloriously sunny and tomorrow will be, too. It's like spring break around here  :D

My prepping activity yesterday: finally tracked down Spokane County building code that said they are cool with strawbale homes as found in the International Residential Code (didn't say anything about cob but said an earthbag home would need additional approval). So then I tracked down the relevant IRC info strawbale homes and read it. And worked on taxes. Building codes and taxes.  ::)

Did a little early Spring cleaning... will be selling a couch and taking a box of clothing to church. Also found a few pots/pans that we really don't use.
Oh yeah, my feather heads have started to lay eggs. I've got over 20 eggs in the past couple of weeks.

Good nothing today but over the weekend I did secure 60 pounds of a white and Thai  sweet rice mix sealed in 5 gallon buckets with mylar bags and O2 absorbers.

On a sidenote 5 gallon buckets can hold up to I think 33 pounds of rice and 31 or 32 pounds of pasta which is my next venture

I just finished processing a wild pig.  Since it was an older boar I took it all to sausage.  I now have a LOT of mild sausage.

I thought about canning it.......
