Tried another food prep, roast beef hash vs. corned beef..think Brookdale?
Fried it up in the pan, drained oil, cracked 2 egg in a well in the center, covered,so kinda poached.English muffin, hot sauce..pretty dang good if your hungry..didn't seem as salty as the corned beef.
More of a hearty sit down and eat vs. grab and go spam sandwich.A lot of my food preps are canned, but don't worry about the sodium..figure I need it in Fl. heat during a SHTF. O0

Spam is Spam, not much you can really do without making it more effort that its worth. But, Its better than being hungry!

A few years back (well, mor than a few) I stopped doing a lot of car work and started taking them into the shop. Too much stuff in the way and no space to work on it. On my old 68 mustang 6 cylinder I could climb in the engine bay to work on it. of course I was a "few" pounds lighter back then.

Some things I'll still do, if its accessible, like most oxygen sensors.

OMG we have BOXES and shelves worth of "Misc. things" in our sheds that we just don't want to throw away cause we think the same thing of "I might need that someday after the SHTF."
However, we recently did go through one of the smaller sheds and HAD to get rid of a few cans of old paint and stains, and a few other things that have been laying around for over 3 years with no idea now what they would be used for.
Now I really need to go through my garden shed and work on getting rid of the old cracked and broken down plant holders etc.  :( :o

1)My American flag was getting old, time to replace..dang..decent USA made ones have gone up..35$-45$..couple times a year as the weather is rough on them.Did learn in Fl.,American flags are tax exempt, had no clue.
2)Stopped at the gas station on the way home from getting the flag for a few things.Guess the tax thing was on my mind, noticed they were still charging 7% instead of 6%.Told the girl, she got the Mngr....he checked it..shrugged his shoulders, said"thats whats in the computer system"
3)Been trying to keep my truck up,clicking sound, took it to "my" shop.Small oil leak from valve cover gasket, onto serpentine belt and tensioner..700$ parts and labor,I gulped!!He showed me..saw the hundred of bolts, wires, hoses, and 1 inch clearance between everything ,couldn't grab my wallet quick enough..no way,Jose, would I try it.Ended up taking them 2 days even with all their equipment and experience.

Kinda ties in with the post about jury rigging vs. buying.
4) along that theme,I reconnected my solar system on it yesterday.Pannels on the roof rack. This time I loosened the headliner, then drilled a hole thru the roof for the wires vs. thru the window.Used a 90 degree PVC elbow and siliconed it to waterproof, mounted the controller and invertor to the plastic trim with self drill screws.2 old L/A batteries in a plastic storage bin.(Have my eye on a 110 a.h. LiPe battery, just can't justify 300$ now)
In this case, keeping all those bits and pieces paid off, didn't need to buy one thing.

5)food preps..after all that, was hungry, decided to try a bacon flavored spam sandwich.Tasted it out of the can,bland..also a piece after fried,same..made the sandwich..really nothing.Did burp a few times that night and next morning, got the smell and taste.
Overall,neutral rating,wasn't bad,but no bacon flavor,not even the traditional spam flavor. O0

The only seeds Ive frozen have been beans and that was to kill any possible creepy crawlers.
They sat in the freezer for about 6 months . I would like to say that doing so was a part of the plan but I simply forgot about them.
When I took them out I put them in one gallon plastic containers and they sat in the closet for about 8 years. Yes, I forget a lot of things.
When we moved back to Florida they were just in the way and figuring they werent any good anyways I tossed them into the then unoccupied chicken pen. That was in December. I now have to mow a roughly 600 sq ft patch of beans so the chickens wont get lost.

Always looking ahead, I realized I'm out of garden seeds. What if I needed to start a new garden tomorrow? I'd be screwed (and not in the fun way)

Over the years I've tried heirloom plants and leaving a few for seed. Its worked well with some things and very poorly with others, like carrots.

I just purchased 2 different sets of heirloom survival garden packs from different vendors on ebay. I plan to plant one and put the other in the freezer.
Has anyone tried freezing seeds then using them later? I hear it works, but how well, and how long can they stay frozen and still work?

When it comes to building versus buying, I get more satisfaction from a creation of my own, but find that most often I can buy something for less money and a lot less time and frustration than recreating the wheel on my own.
