 Wow Cook- that was a great deal!!  Hopefully you won't have to use the generator for any more storms/hurricanes during the season!!

 Many Blessings... ::hh

Thats an amazing deal! Good luck with that one for real.  I had a similar deal myself two years ago.  I bought myself a generator from a neighbor that was moving.  He had it sitting on his driveway with a for sale sign.  I was fixing my sons little E-dirtbite and looked over and saw it.  I did'nt think too much about it initially but then decided to send my son over to ask what he wanted for it.  Wait for it...  $100!!!
I grabbed a c-note I keep for emergency purposes and walked over.  I is a Coleman 5500 running watt.  He changed the oil every three months, came with 2 five gallon gas cans and a heavy 30amp splitter cord that plugs into the 220 to give you 2 110 plugs.   I could not pass this up.  I mean its $50 for two gas cans alone.  The cord is like $70.  It would have been a great deal with just the generator but with all the extra's... shoooooot.

He was a retired engineer.  He sold his house to move closer to his daughter.  Good guy, he was like our neighborhood watch.  He would sit in a chair in his driveway all day under the shade of a tree reading.  Knew everyone and everything.  Helped me get a lot of my intel,  ;)

Saw an ad a couple weeks ago posted just an hour before I saw it,about 10 minutes from me.Called right away,tried to be first,as it was a "too good to be true".
Took about 30 seconds of talking to him I knew it was a real legit deal.Older guy,retired military doctor,and just had a whole house unit installed.
My gut feeling was right as soon as I got there,garage was all organized,everything labled,same as the gen.
Never heard of the brand..Eliminator storm series..6600/8000 w surge..20 amp 110..30 amp 220..electric start,$315(kinda odd number?),didn't even try to haggle at that price.All he wanted was for me not to turn around and try to sell it for a profit.

We chatted a while,and said wait a minute.Gave me 2-5 gallon cans,heavy 50' 110 cord..25' 220 cord..1/2 bottle of sta-bill,and 4 spark plugs..the manual,and warrenty for the newish 12v starter battery.

Just one of those once in a lifetime deals,to make up for the many times I got burned. O0

 We took a pretty good hit in Branford, Mayo areas. Many trees down- pulled out by the roots. Friend of ours tobacco crop totally decimated...

 We had about 6 trees fall and MULTIPLE branches come down all around us... Large one hit our pole barn and it is now at a a 10 degree lean! Also tree crashed into the side of our large shed and bounced 3 times leaving gashes before landing and leaving a gaping hole.... overall just clean up stuff for us.  We have a GENERAC home system that kept us going for the 5 1/2 days we were out of power. We let neighbors come over and shower, do laundry, and just relax in the a/c for a while.
GOD is good!!

This is an area that is definitely one of my weak points.

I have a few of those walkie talkies and based on recommendations here bought a few of those Baofeng radios, but never learned how to use them. Swamp yankee set them up for me years ago.
