By fluke, I was channel surfing and ran across on AT&T CNBCW which relayed a story on this recall. Seems there is plenty of documentation both outside and inside the company relating to the Walker trigger firing without a finger on the trigger. Sixty + years worth. This occurs when a the safety is switched off or the slide bolt is bumped. Obviously if a bullet is in the chamber the rifle will fire. There are a lot of dead and having been wounded to account for this fact. I found this: http://xmprecall.remington.com/#contact on their website. I entered my serial number which did return my rifle as being in the recall. I purchased this rifle approximately two weeks before Christmas two years ago in 2012. I register a lot of what I buy and sometimes on the internet. The recall notification identified my rifle as not being registered. I won't debate this though I did buy it new from a sporting goods box store. I will be sent box and labeling by Remington for shipping to a repair facility of their choosing. Without cost of shipping, return or repair to me. No telling how long this will take. I'll keep you informed as the story unfolds. I post this in hopes of preventing injury or death to folks I care about. Chris Burchfield

Yep, that recall is going to pull in a lot of 700s ... that trigger wasnt idiot proof. A really good trigger tho.

Makes you wonder what it will be like after they do the recall work.
-
I was told on another forum that this recall is for the Model 700 rifle and the series 7 rifle, not the shotgun.
That would make it a much smaller recall.

Mosin triggers! :o

Walker was the design engineer.

Guess I'll be doing this as well

I am hearing that it is taking MONTHS to get them back. So..... if you love that rifle you might just replace the trigger yourself. Maybe...

Yup, thats the route I would go if I wanted it changed.

Well decided to check mine. And, I win, I mean lose.
Went on line, registered my gun. They will send packing materials and paperwork. 5-7 days.
Then ship it off, Minimum of 12 weeks to get it fixed.
Anyone know how much to have it done locally and pay for it myself?
Seems like an awful long time......

The Timney 510 W/Safety & bolt release can be ordered on line through Walmart for $111. A Jewel Trigger will run around $250 give or take. I've visited several sites and also watch a couple of YouTube videos for removal and install of a new trigger. Two screws to remove the stock with a front and rear pins that have to be driven partially out. Do not drive them all the way out. It makes for a much harder job aligning the bolt release back in. On reinstall, the front stock screw is torqued to 65 lbs. while the rear is torqued to 45 lbs. Really does not look too hard to do yourself. My two problems are wife said I don't need it right now and to let Remington do it. Second it would really screw up deer hunting season this year. Though I do have other rifles. This is the YouTube Video I was following: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEbXvujZBfQ

I checked a 750 an it was alright. But thanks for posting about this...

Remington sent me a shipping box with an outer sleeve, styro-foam rifle bed and two 3/8" plastic outer bands. No prepaid labeling. Six days after registering. I pulled the scope, bipod and carry sling off, removed the bolt and placed in the box with the rifle. $19.52 USP w/tracking to New York from Memphis. We'll see.

I thought they would pay the shipping.

I thought they would pay the shipping.
Yea, me to....

Progress. Received my Shipping box. Took 9 days. Waiting for UPS to pick it up, probably tomorrow. And, They DO pay for the shipping. After pickup, the waiting starts. They estimate 12 weeks. Hope SHTF holds off. It's the only gun I have. Completely unprotected... uuuj

I missed the part about contacting UPS for labels and shipping/my bad. I did track via USPS and it arrived last Friday. You can go to http://www.remington.com/forms/repair-information.aspx to check status. Mine says it has been checked in. This site also says 10 - 12 week return.
-
Thought I would check the status of my repair. It was completed and shipped on Oct 24....
They said it would be 12 weeks. Completed in 4. Have not received it yet.
That is good news, was worried about it taking 12 weeks.....
Will keep you informed.
-
Just signed for my package. Have not opened it yet. Took 4 weeks, not the 12 weeks they said.
Guess I should have opened the box. Any problems, I'll let you know.
-
Opened it up. Looks good. Will have to get to the range and test drive it.
Question. Why is it OK to ship a gun to the factory and back without an FFL?? Just does not make sense. Wait, nothing makes sense anymore...

Questions of that nature will not be tolerated....

Just got mine back. Came in and checked these threads. I sent mine out Sept. 21. Today is Oct. 29, not bad. Still have time to set her back up, take her to the range and zero her fancy. Kudos to Remington for a job well done. My Baby is American Made! Proud of it.

Did they say they fixed anything? Or just cleaned and inspected?
-
Repair document says, A023 - Replace fire control with updated XMP fire control.
Happy Camper, I was worried about it being in the "wrong" hands.....Not mine..
-
Same with mine Kodiak.
