As we all know this forum went offline for a couple of days recently. It has gone down before but returned rather quickly. At first it seemed fine but as it started growing toward the 3 day mark and given the verbage of the error message I was concerned that the board may be kaput. I decided that if it wasn't back up Wednesday morning I would try to contact some of the folks going to Ocala in October just to keep in touch. Little did I know something very cool was about to start happening.
I was just getting off shift when I noticed I had a text on my phone from another board member, "what's wrong with FLS? It's been down for a while." Like the mushroom I am I didn't know anything but told him I was planning on contacting a couple of the other members in the morning. That's when "operation keep in touch" kicked off in a very interesting way. We briefly discussed who we already tried to contact and went different directions on our contact lists as well as some of the people we could get a hold of doing the same creating a domino effect. I don't know if this effect had something to do with it or it was by pure chance but FLS was back up within a couple of hours.
Regardless of the circumstances of those actions it was pretty interesting seeing folks communicating about a minor issue asking questions, making contacts, and spreading info concerning the situation. I'm sure everyone involved would agree that in a real situation just that little bit of interaction could be huge let alone if the site were to disappear all together again at least we could discuss other options on communicating with eachother.
I know it's been done before but it would good to revisit a contact list again. Maybe update existing ones. What do you guys think?

I am 100% in on that venture.
What is the best way to do that?
Some are probably not comfortable putting too much info out there for the world.

Definitely need a contact list. The easiest way to do it would be at Ocala. Is there a function "pm all"?

I would like to be added to the list. I currently don't have a way to get into contact with anyone (not radio cert. yet)

Sentry has his own site, and while I do not suggest it to compete with this one, if we all joined it, he could do mass contacts through it and serve as a communications hub. Plus it was started for that very sort of networking. (hope you don't mind me pimping you out Sentry.)

Nobody sent me a text (even though somebody here has my number -not that I'm calling anyone out Swamp Yankee), I guess this just tells me where I stand! :o

Ok, I was the one maintaining the contact list...
Here is who is on it, I'm not certain who is even active on the forum anymore. Not sure if they want to be part of the list anymore or not... Perhaps someone can help contact these people through PM and see if they exist still or wish to still participate.

This is how the list is sorted, you can give what info you want to share. The list gets set to everyone on it. The notes can refer to your preferred method of contact, as well as if you only want to be contacted if emergency or for any reason. Notes can also include HAM Call if you have it.
User Name / Real Name / Location / Cell Phone / Home Phone / Email Address / Notes

That's one of the reasons to kick start a revised contact list AB. I have your number but it was saved in my PM list on the site. No bueno :(

One of the reasons right there that makes face to face interactions important.
I'll add that only those who are participating in sharing contact information should recieve a copy of the list.

Amen to that brother! I'm fortunate the "group" we plan with is very local here in KY, so our communication is phone and face to face a lot but I couldn't agree more. An updated phone tree even for a little problem is a good thing to get going and keep.
Even though I'm not in FL anymore, I am willing to help if you guys need it.

I'll only send this out once in a while... I guess that's why it kind of fell off... You have to remember, there is edit, save as PDF and then email it out... How many people want to get an email today and then another in 2 days to replace the file... Tedious. So..... I'll send this out later tonight... Save it somewhere you will remember, and then when you get an updated one, replace this one.
Anyone wishing to have their info added, make it known or forever hold your till after the next time...

Was trying to thing about how to add HAM Call on there, figure there were few Home #'s so not really needed.
There is not enough room for full home address... So just city or county is all that's needed if you want to add it...
Crash is added
- D is added (because I'm using excel it was not easy adding your username, it kept wanting to add a date format.) [That will be a $100 fee for causing me 5 minutes of frustration]
If you Want to add you HAM Call, let me know.. I wont send the new one out until on or about Sept 1 so long as someone reminds me.

Seriously, I think it's a valid question. How do we keep this as private as it needs to be. We know who are regulars here but it's a hard question to answer i.e., what are the standards to determine who gets the list?
