So once this guy was having a barbeque. He was cooking up some manatee he had "rescued" from the water.
His friend was shocked that he was cooking an endangered species, but asked what it tastes like, and the guy paused and said: " well, its kind of a mix between Bald Eagle and Florida Panther."

Speaking of chicken,I remember when they couldn't give chicken wings away...no meat on them,no market for them. Now a handfull of wings cost more than buying a whole chicken.

Being a chef in a former life,I've probably ate/fixed/sold/tasted more exotic/uncommon food than the average person.

Slap on a French name,charge 30$ bucks,and they will buy it ::)

I'm guilty, too.I love raw oysters, but can't imagine eating a raw slug...throw it in port wine overnight, cook it with garlic butter and serve with crusty bageuttes, call it escargot, and charge 19.95$...cook it and they will buy it. O0

Yep, that has always amazed me. Almost frightening how easily the average person is manipulated.

Standing in line at a grocery store, behind a game warden.   Started telling my buddy about all the alligators we caught the Saturday before.

I kept getting a little louder and making it a little more obvious.   Got to the point of saying I had the cheek meat still in a cooler in my truck outside before he turned turned around and confronted me.

He was actually three sentences in before he recognized me.   LOL

When he did recognize me, he froze.   Then he shook his head and laughed and said "you got me."

If you got the money, you can get almost anything legally. We had a few suppliers that would offer kangaroo, elephant, giraffe and other things on occasion. We got rattlesnake, turtle, gator, ostrich(emu?)and can't remember what else.

I've caught and cleaned gator/turtle/rattlers...and know what they look like.I would have no clue what rack of gazelle,or filet of tiger looks like, but its out there. O0

Filet of tiger, I'd like to try that.

"Tiger meat"

Recipes vary. The ingredients can include raw egg, onion, and seasonings such as salt, pepper, etc. garlic powder, cayenne pepper, celery, Tabasco sauce, etc. Some stores in the state of North Dakota sell a dry seasoning mix for it.

It is usually served on crackers with sharp cheddar cheese. It is popular in states such as Minnesota and North Dakota.

It is best to use lean beef, with any connective tissue removed. Butchers in Minnesota and North Dakota will prepare it for you; you just phone in your order the day before.

Some recipes say mix up the ingredients, let the mixture sit for one day for flavours to marry. After that, it is then good for eating for 2 days, then either cook up or discard. If there are leftovers, you can use them in a meatloaf or to make burgers from.

One thing I noticed about reptiles is that they have to be soaked in saltwater several times.L've personally killed/cleaned/cooked/ate gator, turtle, snake, frog, iguana and maybe some I forgot...but all of them ,the meat had a lot of blood in them.

Doesn't mean anything..just felt like posting something this morning.
