So far so good. Barely a breeze outside, no rain, gas stations have gas. The updates now say to expect 30-40mph winds and 40-50 MPH gusts. I'm so happy!!!

Communications Tower / Amateur radio diagramming tools or Visio shapes?
« Last post by Frank on August 29, 2023, 05:23:32 PM »
Hey all. I am planning on setting up a family radio network that involves a number of moving parts.  I've kind of penciled it out, but was looking to create a cleaner, easier to read diagram.

Anyone know of a tool that helps with that?  Failing that, any place I can download Visio shapes for amateur radio (e.g., base stations, repeaters, mobiles, et al.)?

Thanks much.

You bet. This one is coming at me. I'm out of the surge zone but will have the winds. I'm 25 minutes from the coast and not very far from Cedar Key. So far expecting 70-80MPH sustained with gusts of 120-150mph. I am expecting an extended power outage at home.

Only thing I wish I had was a brace on the garage door. The hurricane shutters are rated for 150mph and I have then all shut. I have plenty of water, food, gas. I'm testing rechargeable lightbulbs and rechargeable LED undercabinet lights. I should be fine but the yard clean up is something I'm not looking forward to.

My employer may not have received the memo. I'm heading into "work as normal" and will be driving home about midnight. Hopefully they have a change of heart and let us close early.

Im at a loss as well.
Lately I've felt like I am more just "day to day" than long term planning, which is the core of prepping.

My job sucks, thanks directly to the Governor. We have lost over 20% of our staff in the last 3 months.  My close friend that was supposed to retire when I do in a few years is leaving next week instead.

AC went out at home Friday night. Good thing my prepping mind got me to install a split unit in my bedroom. At least thats nice and cool.

Car all of a sudden does not recognize the "Smart keys".  not so smart after all, are they.

And I have a drain fly infestation in all the bathrooms, and none of the products seem to work.
Somewhere there has to be a bright side, just to foggy to see it now.

Labor shortage..still seeing signs hireing,especially small places/resturants
prices,went up,not much came down..gas back up
hours, lots of stores have reduced hours still..had to go to 4 places to get a haircut, used to just walk in
supply issues, still have trouble getting stuff at work..instead of getting 4 boxes once a week, have to get a pallet, every 2 months
homes and insurance way up

Not a deep thinker, just some random observations..not sure how much is directly related

Seen a few news clips about a comeback with a variation of vid..but not much
I have plenty of "stuff",last 2-3 years just concentrating on canned food and saving cash..learning skills/repairs,maintaning house and what I have.
Getting older, medical insurance is crazy..had some skin cancer..not life threating, but spent almost 5K$ this year for cash discount, that was a hit

I'm at a loss what more to do,just keep my gas tank full,go to work everyday, take a nice hot shower every morning and night..couple beers help. O0
